Simon was recently selected as an Australia Day Ambassador. It is the second consecutive year that Simon has recieved this great honour. Only 135 Victorians from Sport, Business and the community were selected to travel around Victoria to speak about what it means to be an Australian in this great country. Simon went to Tallangatta where he addressed the local comunity at a breakfast function.

Simon still on the road to recovery from his broken leg, attended the Tasmanian State Championships in December 2007, where he was on hand to support and encourage the local talent along with the newly appointed AWF President, Robert Kabbas.

Its official!! The Armenian who won Gold for Australian at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, Alex Karapetyan has officially been branded a drug cheat and given a two year ban from the sport. However the controversy doesn't end there. ASADA has decided Karapetyan's ban should start from the day after the 2006 Commonwealth Games even though the failed drug test is from 2005.

As far as NEWS goes this is huge!! The header at the top of this page currently reads "Silver Medallist" but in breaking news that may all be about to change. Alex Karapetyan who snatched Gold in the 94kg class at last year's Melbourne Commonwealth Games is one of five figures at the center of a drug allegation controversy.
